QUADRENNIAL ETHICS TRAINING

Effective January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2008, and for successive four year periods thereafter, REALTORS® are required by the National Association of REALTORS to complete quadrennial ethics training of not less than two hours and thirty minutes of instructional time. REALTORS® completing such training during any four year cycle shall not be required to complete additional ethics training in respect of this requirement as a requirement of membership in any other board or association.

A REALTOR® completing the New Member Code of Ethics Orientation during any four year cycle shall not be required to complete additional ethics training in respect of this requirement until a new four year cycle commences.

Failure to complete the required periodic ethics training shall be considered a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the required training is completed.

Every board and association is required to provide access to necessary ethics training programs either locally, in conjunction with other boards and associations, or through other methods (including, but not limited to, home study, correspondence courses, or internet-based instruction). Any training offered pursuant to this requirement must meet the learning objectives and minimum criteria established by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® from time to time.

The North Central Massachusetts Association provides several opportunities each year to complete this mandatory training. The Professional Ethics courses  offered through our Real Estate school qulaify for the mandatory ethics training and provide 2 CEU credits towards renewing your license.  Several times during the year we offer the Mandatory ethics training and new member orientation classes which qualify for credit toward the course. Members may also take the training, available online for free, from NAR at www.realtor.org.  If you have taken this course at another school or association we will not have records of your course completion.  You must email or fax the Association Office copies of the certificates from these courses to gain credit for the Quadrennial Ethic requirement.

If you are not sure if you have completed your Quadrennial Ethics requirement you can find out from the Association Office.
